How these calculators work
Each calculator applies published rules or standard arithmetic to the figures you enter. Every assumption is shown beside the result, and you can change them.
Where the rules come from
Income tax, the Medicare levy, the low income tax offset, HECS/HELP and GST use the rates published by the Australian Taxation Office for the income year shown on each page. We update them each 1 July. Loan and savings calculators use the rate and term you enter.
What they can’t do
They give general estimates. They don’t know your full situation, don’t consider every rule, and don’t recommend any product or decision. For a decision, consider advice from a registered tax agent or a licensed financial adviser.
Your privacy
Everything is worked out in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to us or anyone else.
How it’s free
The site is supported by optional tips and by Google ads, always labelled "Advertisement". We don’t accept payment from lenders or providers, and the calculators never mention them.
